DIY Gold Snake Tail Necklace

I've been stumbling across of a lot of gold and silver amphibian jewelry lately.

This piece by OTT by Liat is gorgeous. I mean, it's $320 of 24ct gold. Something that most of us cannot afford. I wrote up a little tutorial for you to make your own snake tail necklace replica. :)

Supplies:
1. a rubber or plastic amphibian or another animal toy. you can get these from the dollar store or toys-r-us for fairly cheap.
2. gold or silver metallic finish spray paint
3. knife or sharp scissors
4. spray sealant (like krylon)
5. chain in same color as spray paint
6. e6000
7. jewelry jump rings
8. jewelry pliers

Directions:
1. cut the snake to the length that you wish. only keeping the tail of the animal or maybe just the head. depending on what animal you chose to make into a necklace.
2. glue the jump ring carefully with the 2 openings up away from the animal toy.
3. let dry
4. spray paint with metallic spray paint. let dry. do another coat to sure full coverage. let dry again!
5. spray with sealant. let dry. do another coat if you feel like your first was too fit. let fully dry again!
6. use the pliers to attach the jump ring to the middle of your chain.
7. BOOM YOU HAVE A NEW STATEMENT NECKLACE!

GOOD LUCK!!!

DIY Headphone Laced Shoes/Boots

Okay so I know I already used this image for a previous DIY  (the post before this actually), but i just noticed that the boots are laced with what appears to be metallic headphones.  Those seem mighty expensive but here's a better idea.

We all have prolly gone through at least 3 pairs of headphones. First the ones that came with the iPod get ruined. Then you start going through the $9.99 jelly colored pairs from wal-mart. Those come in FANTASTIC COLORS btw. What do you do with those when they break? Throw them away? NO!

Lace up those boots or shoes that need a little spicing up with some headphones! Using neon colors against white would look really awesome.

& If you crave that metallic look, you could always spray paint your headphones? I'm not sure how that would work out, but it's worth a shot, right?

DIY Chain Detail Doc Martens

Yet another fabulous DIY idea for all those extra chains and old necklaces most of us have laying around. If you don't have any laying around. Hit up your local thrift store. I assure you, there's plenty and usually on the cheap side! you're not wearing this on your skin so it can be the cheap stuff :)

grab those chains and make 2 short-ish necklaces with them. make them look grungy and messy. the thrown together look.

Attach them to the top holes in your combats or docs :)

DIY Duct Tape Skirt

Okay well it's not really duct tape, unless you'd really like to go that route for a super quick look the cheapest way when you have zero time to get ready. Otherwise, here is my suggestion.

Take an plain old black jersey knit (or any other fabric should do as long as it's like a body con skirt, nothing with ruffles or anything, that would get complicated and the duct tape illusion would just make the ruffled skirt too busy.

Anyways, get yourself some metallic silver spray paint from Wal-Mart or something. Wal-Mart is usually cheapest.

Mark off the entire skirt except the parts you want silver with duct tape or thick painters tape. If you'd like to save on tape you can just mark off the stripes/design in painters tape, then tape down plastic or brown paper around the other spots you don't want paint on.
